Typhoon May-Li aims head-on for Okinawa

The season’s first real typhoon has Okinawa in its sights, and is churning Pacific waters as it heads for a Saturday rendezvous.
Officially the fourth typhoon of the 2007 season, which began June 1st, Typhoon May-Li is intensifying as it passes through warm waters along the east coast of the Philippines. The speed in picking up to 20km per hour.
Forecasters are predicting winds in excess of 15m/second as it moves across Okinawa, with peak winds reaching 30m/second with gusts to 45m/second. High winds of 25m/second reach out over a 125 kilometer radius.
As of noon Thursday, the storm track will bring May-Li directly across Okinawa’s main island about 6 a.m. Saturday, moving to the northwest.
