X-Hobby Okinawa is the one-stop place where dreams become realities, with a variety of ready-to-run radio controlled cars on sale. From novice to expert, X-Hobby Okinawa has exactly the car—or car components—for every taste. Customers can custom design their cars, and purchase bodies, engines and tires separately. Custom bodies run ¥2,500 and up, engines ¥25,000, motors ¥1,500 and up, and tires ¥1,000 and up. A popular ready-to-run vehicle is an off road truck, HPI’s Savage. The 21” long, 17” wide monster machine runs up to 35mph, selling for ¥54,300. On road racers include the Tamiya XB Series starting at ¥21,000. They’re high cast for quality performance, and have tires designed for road racing. X-Hobby Okinawa owner Miyazato has been running the radio control center for 20 years, and says he enjoys having customers become regulars. “I made a special room for radio control cars,” said one R/C enthusiast. “It’s my own world, where nobody can disturb me. I made my own arrangements and did my own designs.” Another says “It’s pure excitement. You have to visit once to see for yourself.” X-Hobby Okinawa has a full range of more than 150 R/C parts, including specially designed and produced home tires, spark plugs and car accessories. Fire splash Spark 4 units sell for ¥2,000, while drift tires run upwards of ¥1,500. The hobby shop even has stickers for body decorations ¥1,150 . Miyazato says “You can’t get real high class race cars; that’s practically impossible for everyone, but you can make radio control cars for racing. X-Hobby Okinawa even knows the places to race.
