Hong Kong – Okinawa charter flights boost travel and tourism opportunities

Date Posted: 2007-05-11

More planes are arriving now at Naha International Airport, thanks to the charter operations begun by a Hong Kong company.

Hong Kong Express Airways Limited is now flying charter flights to and from Okinawa, and has hinted at opening direct air links in the future. Since the first inbound flight last month, Hong Kong Express has scheduled a series of tours through H.I.S. travel agency locally, and EGL Tours of Hong Kong, to provide tourists with sightseeing adventures in both places.

Okinawa visitors come for four days and three nights, with tourist spots including Churaumi Aquarium.

Charters to Hong Kong feature a four-day plan arranged by H.I.S. They include flight tickets, accommodations, three breakfasts and transfer fees. The next charter is May 24th, leaving Naha at 2:40 p.m. and arriving in Hong Kong at 4:10 p.m. The return trip is May 27th, with a 5:40 p.m. departure to Naha, arriving at 9:10 p.m.

Another charter round trip is scheduled for June 16th.

Hong Kong Express officials say they’re highly motivated about beginning direct flights in the near future. The airline says it is working the issue with the Okinawa Prefecture government.

H.I.S. says there are numerous sightseeing options in Hong Kong, and plenty of time to discover new adventures. Details are available at the H.I.S. travel agencies. At the Hamby Branch, call 982-7600 for information; at the Kadena Air Base Gate 2 Branch, call 983-4620.
