Sam's restaurants to honor mothers

Date Posted: 2007-05-11

Motherís Day is coming up May 13th, and Samís restaurants on Okinawa are cranking up special entrees to pay homage.

The Motherís Day holiday, said to have evolved from a custom of mother worship in ancient Greece, then copied by Americans from the British after the U.S. civil war, is a secular celebration with some ties to religious practices.

Three Samís restaurants on the island are offering the dinner specials May 11th through 14th. Awase Samís by the Sea features charbroiled swordfish and filet mignon for •2,850, Oroku Samís By the Sea will present a Sirloin Steak Verde, Italian Genova style, for •2,850, and Samís Cafehas pan fried red snapper topped with crab stuffing and tenderloin steak for •2,40.
