Photographers to autograph Best of Okinawa Living book

Date Posted: 2007-04-26

Three photographers who teamed to capture the essence of Okinawa with a 300-page The Best of Okinawa Living pictorial will be autographing the book Saturday at Camp Foster.

Master photographer Lloyd Wainscott, photographer-writer-managing editor Mike Daley, and photographer-art director Henry Ortega will be signing copies of The Best of Okinawa Living from 1~5 p.m. at the Camp Foster PX. They’ll also sign copies of Postcards of The Best of Okinawa Living. The three are part of the award-winning staff of Okinawa Living magazine.

The Best of Okinawa Living is available at select AAFES BookMark locations for $34.95, making it the gift of choice for mothers and family members back home. It’s Brief History of Okinawa touches on the islands gusuku, or castles, and captures a few historical highlights. A Places chapter takes readers on a virtual tour of the island prefecture.

With holidays, special occasions and festivals an integral part of Okinawan and Japanese culture, The Celebrations section highlights Okinawan Matsuri, the seasonal festivals, including the Naha Great Tug-of-War. A Nature chapter takes readers on a brief sightseeing expedition to Okinawa’s quickly-disappearing northern forests known as Yanbaru, the islands many caves, and the prefecture’s beautiful beaches.
