Korean captures second Triathlon win at Miyako

Park Byung-Hoon did it again, capturing the trophy in the Strongman 23rd All Japan Triathlon Miyakojima on Sunday.

The South Korean made the competition look easy, outdistancing more than 1,000 other triathletes in the annual event. Masayuki Matsumaru, who last year wound up third, finished in the number two spot. Hiroyuki Nishiuchi was third.

Newcomer Rechel Ross won the womenís honors, outdistancing last yearís winner, Emi Shiono, and Naomi Imaizumi.

The Strongman triathlon is not for the faint hearted. Itís an endurance event as competitors first begin the early morning with a three kilometer swim, followed by 155 kilometers on a bicycle. The full marathon, 42.195 kilometers, rounds out the triathlon.

The All Japan Triathlon Miyakojima is sponsored by the Miyakojima Atheltic Association and the Miyakojima Triathlon Committee, and organized by the Ryukyu Shimpo and Miyako City.
