Young teens crash stolen car in Yomitan Village area

Date Posted: 2007-04-14

A pair of joy riding junior high school boys were injured early Sunday when their stolen car went out of control and smashed into a brick wall.

A 15-year-old boy was driving, with a 14-year-old passenger in the car. Police say the car had been stolen earlier in the evening.

The older boy is in serious condition, unconscious in the hospital with head injuries and broken legs. The younger teen is also in serious condition with chest and internal injuries.

Police say the road was clear at the time of the 3am incident, although it was raining. They believe the driver lost control and spun out of control, crashed into the brick wall surrounding a residence, then spun out again into the street. The driver will be charged with auto theft, as well as driving without a license.
