Air Dolphin to fill Miyako-Naha void

Date Posted: 2007-03-29

A local airline is ramping up new service between Naha City and Miyako Island, with flights set to begin April 1st.

The daily flights between Shimozi Zima Airport in Miyako and Naha Domestic Airport will fill a need created when major airlines withdrew service late last year. The 55-minute lights are planned to depart Naha at noon daily to Miyako, with a return flight at 1:30pm.

Air Dolphin vice president Mr. Mimatsu says “we cover the routes needed, and we want to get service to people living on Miyako Island.” Air Dolphin has contracted AirTrans, an airline company, as its selling agent. There are plans to establish two Air Dolphin sales locations to service customers.

Tickets will be ¥18,000 for adults, but only ¥15,000 for Okinawans. Tickets for school age children will be ¥1,000 less.
