Date Posted: 2007-03-08

Okinawa Prefecture Police presented a certificate of appreciation to a Naval Criminal Investigative Service civilian employee at the NCIS resident agency building on Camp Foster March 1 for his contribution to investigative service assistance to local police.

Takenaga Undo, the chief investigator of the Okinawa Prefecture Police Department’s 1st Criminal Investigation Section, presented the certificate to Masaki Tanahara, a 31-year veteran of the NCIS resident agency Okinawa, Japan.

"I'm very appreciative and thankful,” Tanahara said. “Our successful relationship is a result of the agents here assisting in our efforts and cooperation with the Okinawa police.”

Tanahara helps NCIS work with local police performing translations, such as police reports. He also represents NCIS while it works with local police agencies on cases involving both local and military communities.
