Japanese airman leaks American military secretsDate Posted: 2006-12-08 The documents were leaked in late November from an ASDF computer at Naha Air Base. Officials say it appears the leak occurred through an infection through Winny share software. Leaked documents containing secret information about anti-guerilla training programs were from both U.S. and JASDF files. Included in the documents were specific information relating to actions of nine JASDF members who participated in an Iraq reconstruction project. Naha Air Base had personnel involved in that mission. Other documents covered reports on an anti-ballistic missile training operation. A JASDF official says he sees little damage coming from the leak, because operations have changed since the documents were created, but did concede it could strain relations with his American military counterparts. The airman involved is now being questioned by military officials. |
