Four hurt as dive ship overturns

High waves lashing to coastal area of Yoshihaya in Ishigaki slammed into a dive boat, capsizing it and injuring four passengers.

Yaeyama Police say the five-meter wave flipped the ship, tossing those aboard into the white capped waters. The most serious injuries were to a Siga man, who broke his lumbar vertebrae, and an Osaka woman who suffered broken ribs.

A Yamanashi man and a Nara woman suffered bruises. Authorities say a fifth passenger, a dive instructor and manager of a dive shop, were uninjured.
