The Camp Hansen Parade Deck is the setting for this weekendıs big Hansen Festival, a free festival with something for everyone.

After a weekend lacking in festivals on Okinawa, the northern Marine Corps Base is pulling out all the stops, offering plenty of fun and entertainment
for individuals of all ages. Saturdayıs festival fun runs 3~10pm, while Sundayıs action starts at 1pm and runs until 10pm. Admission is free to everyone across Okinawa. Well, there is one exception; no pets are allowed.

The annual Hansen Festival entertainment lineup this year includes Latin rhythms of Los Elegantes and the stylish tunes of Ingram Hill. Ingram Hill bills itself as ³pop rock with a Southern twist.² The two headliner bands are appearing through Armed Forces Entertainment programs. Joining them on stage will be local bands Claverio, StormWatch, Jet, 8-Ball, Fake Kingz, as well as eisa and taiko performers.

Eyes, eardrums and stomach all get satisfied as service members and locals get a chance to play at the amusement rides, the stage, and at the food booths.

Thereıs also a Kiddie Land for children.

A Hansen Festival highlight is a range of sports attractions, including softball, arm wresting and bench press tournaments. The Festival Softball Tournament kicks off tomorrow, and runs through Sunday. An arm wrestling tournament takes place Saturday at the festival grounds. Late registration will be permitted Saturday from 2:30~3pm. The event is free, and open to participants island wide. Awards go to first, second and third place winners in each weight class.

A bench press tournament caps Sundayıs sports program, with late registrations from 12:30~1pm. Registration is $15. The competition begins at 2pm, following weigh ins.

A key element of all Marine Corps Community Services festivals are the giveaways and prizes offered by sponsors. This year, lucky attendees have a chance to win two round-trip tickets to Honolulu, courtesy of UnitedAirlines and Omega World Travel. This yearıs Hansen Festival is sponsored in part by Verizon.
