Wakasa coffee shop robbery turns physical

Date Posted: 2006-09-22

An early morning coffee shop robbery in Naha City Saturday scared three customers and the waitress-cashier.

The robbers, described by witnesses as “two big guys wearing ladies stockings over their heads” demanded all the money from the cashier. The men were brandishing screwdrivers as well as guns as they began the robbery by making threats.

They tied the cashier’s hands to the cash register, then grabbed Y500,000 from the register. Police say the robbers then began taking another Y100,000 from the cashier’s wallet before fleeing.

The robbers, in addition to the stockings disguising their faces, put towels over the faces of three customers. The customers freed the cashier once the robbers left the coffee shop.
