Low riders rule in Chatan

Souped up car enthusiasts can soak up their fill of excitement Sunday as the American Street Custom Car Show Lowrider Okinawa makes its way to Chatan Dome. Perfectly shined muscle cars will be everywhere, and a special ‘Hopping, Hopping’ contest pits select modified cars with hydraulic pumps an cylinders bounce around in competition, vying for the ¥30,000 prize money. Admission is ¥1,000 in advance, or ¥1,200 at the door for adults, while high school and junior high students pay ¥500.

Elementary school students and younger children have fee admission to the show, which runs from noon to 7pm.
