Date Posted: 2006-08-11

An underwater photographer who’s also a licensed dive master is unveiling her works Sunday at a local restaurant.

Danielle Caceres-Bricheno, originally from the United Kingdom, will display here art exhibit, “The Underwater World”, at the ‘One Way’ soba restaurant in Urasoe. The exhibit opens Saturday, and runs through September 3rd. She’s traveled extensively around the world, combining her passions for diving and photography in Palau, the Philippines, Indonesia and Australia.

Caceres-Bricheno has worked alongside marine biologists recording and monitoring coral spawning, capturing and tagging reef sharks and deep sea nautilus. While diving here on Okinawa, she claims Ie Island as her favorite, diving most weekends to 100 feet below the surface in search of exciting new pictures.

One Way soba restaurant, located near Camp Kinser, has been the setting for local artist exhibitions plus organic soba selections, since its opening. The restaurant opened two years ago. Opening times and directions are available at: http://ippotuko.on.to.

The Undersea World photo exhibition, which is free, includes more than 50 framed works and postcards available for purchase. Caceres-Bricheno says there are wide angle and macro shots of tropical reef fish, shark encounterse and stunning coral species.
