Naha gal captures 2nd in Miss Universe PageantDate Posted: 2006-07-28 The 24-year-old Okinawan won first runner up honors this week in the Miss Universe Pageant staged in Los Angles. An 18-year-old Puerto Rico girl, Rivera Zuleyka, won the crown. Participants dressed in swimwear, evening dress and national costumes as they competed for the title. As a national costume, Chibana wore Japanese traditional armor as a female Samurai warrior. Chibana was born in Naha City. Her father praised her win, saying “I really appreciate the admiration for my daughter.” He says he named her “Kurara” because of “my wish my daughter be active internationally. She made my dream come true.” |
