JASDF disciplines its drunk driving members

Date Posted: 2006-07-08

A Japanese Air Self Defense Force serviceman has been charged and convicted of drunk driving, and given 17-days disciplinary action.

An Air Force spokesman says the Japanese military man is the fourth punished already this year from drinking and driving. “We are educating very strictly our young servicemen,” he said, “much more than usual.”

The Air Self Defense Force says its actions have not been limited to its members. An official says JASDF has also been arresting Army servicemen and charging them with drinking and driving. A total of seven JSDF men have been punished for the crime.
