Kinserfest Postponed

Date Posted: 2006-06-10

The show must go on! To take advantage of better weather, the 12th annual KinserFest will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 1718. It will still offer the entire family an opportunity to let off steam and get into a summer groove. Even when the weather has postponed festivities in the past, the annual event attracts a crowd of more than 35,000 people with a mix of American and Okinawan flavors. Food vendors will be selling everything from pizza to takoyaki, and corn dogs to yakitori.

There will be a wide variety of free entertainment, including the variety band Image, and DJs will also jam with the crowds. For more information, call MCCS Entertainment at 645-5821.

The popular Pool O Prizes is back this year. It will be a race against the clock for festival goers willing to wade in and take a chance on fishing out some of the $8,000 worth of prizes. The big prize is a pair of round trip tickets to one of United Airlines Gateway cities courtesy of Omega World Travel and United Airlines.

KinserFest admission is FREE. The base is open to everyone island wide Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18. No one will be admitted with pets, outside food, bottles, or coolers. The Green Line will run special routes providing transportation to the event from outer camps.
