Date Posted: 2006-05-05

Emma Elaine Roberts, daughter of Marine Lt. Col. Mark L. Roberts, has been selected to participate in the Oxbridge studies program at Oxford University in England. The 16-year-old will major in medical sciences this summer, and study speech and debate as her minor.

American Legion Post 28 Commander Larry Henry and Post Adjutant Ernie Ernst awarded Roberts a $2,000 academic scholarship for her upcoming studies.

Okinawa Tourist Service awarded the teen roundtrip air travel on Japan Airlines from Okinawa to London. John Miyazato, OTS Chairman, and Tony Higashi, OTS President, made the presentation this week.

Roberts will study at Oxford July 1~31, and will also participate in educational field trips, including visits to Broughton Castle and Canterbury Cathedral in England, and Giverny and Chartres in France. Each year 360 high school students are selected for the Oxbridge academic programs at one of three campuses in England or France.
