Cape Hedo destination for a 100km night run

Date Posted: 2006-04-07

A 100 kilometer run requires being fit.

Making a 100km run in the dark takes the physical adventure to a new dimension.

That is what the Logos Church of Christ in Okinawa City is planning though, and they’re excited about it. Missionary Tracy Bezner says he and a friend, Jeffrey Hultman, are setting up the run to raise scholarship funds for the Misato Children’s Home in Okinawa City. Both Bezner and Hultman are missionaries at the church.

The 100km run is scheduled for 6pm May 12th, with arrival at Cape Hedo about 6am Saturday the 14th. The organizers for the 62.5 mile event are looking for volunteers to collect donations, man the support vehicles, and assist with the event itself. Anyone interested in helping, or running, can get information at 934-0724.

The Misato Children’s Home is funded by the prefecture to provide shelter, food and care to orphaned children until they graduate from high school. Once the children graduate from high school, state aid stops. Logos Church of Christ is striving to make collage an attainable dream for these youngsters by contributing to a scholarship fund.
