Robbery nets pennies

Date Posted: 2002-06-13

The owner of an Urasoe pub got a rude awakening while sleeping in his restaurant about 4 a.m. after closing when an intruder pushed a chisel on his chest and said gWake up and give me money. If you donft, you know what I will do.h

The owner got on his feet, went to the cash register and grabbed some money and pushed that to the robberfs waiting hand. The robber then shoved the money in his pocket, pushed the owner in the toilet and locked the door. He then ran away. Neither man had as much as paid a glance to the money that was handed over.

When the owner managed to free himself from the toilet, he went to call the police and to see how much he had lost. Looking in the cash register he realized that he had grabbed the contents of the slot that contained one-yen coins only, a total of about \30.

gA robbery is a robberyh was the opinion of the police who arrived at the scene to begin their investigation. According to the owner, the culprit was a 40 to 50-year old man who was about 170 tall. He said that he does not remember the robberfs face, as he had been too nervous to pay much attention.
