Ginoza to get Hanshin Tigers spring training campDate Posted: 2002-06-13 The team has reportedly already made reservations for 90 players, coaches and other team members at a resort hotel in Onna Village from Jan. through Feb.10. Ginoza has hosted another professional team Nippon Ham Fighters for several seasons, but having reached an agreement with Tigers, cancelled the contract with Fighters. “There is definitely more merits to our community to have the Tigers,” Ginoza Mayor Yasukazu Urasaki says. “There are only a few diehard fans and members of mass media that come to cover the Fighters’ spring training camp. With the Tigers, we expect 500 to 800 media people alone.” Another Okinawa community was quick to offer a helping hand to Nippon Ham Fighters who were left without a spring training facility. Kochinda Town Mayor Eikou Kinjo announced immediately that his town would welcome the team. “We will welcome Nippon Ham Fighters team to our town and promise to take a very good care of them,” the mayor said. |
