‘Foreigners’ rip off Okinawa City man

Date Posted: 2005-09-26

Police are looking for Americans as they investigate an assault and robbery against an Okinawa City man.

A 56-year-old man told police he was shoved to the ground by a pair of men, then robbed, as he walked a Moromizato District street in his home city. More than ¥25,000 was stolen.

He says the two men, who looked like foreigners, approached from behind him as he walked home. As he described them to police, he said they spoke English. As he attempted to ignore the foreigners, and walk home, he was pushed down.

The Okinawa City man is an employee on a U.S. military base. He said the two men immediately ran from the scene after taking his wallet.
