Weber to take command of military elements in Okinawa

The U.S. military is receiving a new Okinawa Area Coordinator, while Marines get a new commander. Lt. Gen. Joseph Weber is returning to Okinawa as the Okinawa Area Coordinator and Commanding General, III Marine Expeditionary Force, replacing Lt. Gen. Robert Blackman. Weber previously served in Okinawa during 2002-2004 as commander, 3rd Marine Division, with headquarters also at Camp Courtney. Weber has most recently been Chief of Staff, Multi-national Force Iraq. President George W. Bush appointed Weber to the slot in April, and the U.S. Congress approved the appointment last week.
