Kadena lawsuit presses forward to silence nighttime aircraft noise

Date Posted: 2005-06-17

Anger continues to mount over jet noise at Kadena Air Base, particularly at night.

Five members of the Kadena Noise Lawsuit plaintiff groups have now carried their complaints to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and to the Defense Facilities Administration Agency. Seiyu Nakamura, a group leader, is demanding the Japanese government make the American military live by a longstanding agreement to curb noise during nighttime, and during early morning hours.

The group is now upping its demands, insisting the Japanese government must not agree to any movement of troops or aircraft from Futenma Marine Corps Air Station to Kadena Air Base.
