Details revealed on man found dead in training area

Date Posted: 2005-06-10

The man found two weeks ago in a public access area of Camp Hansenís beach training area may have been dead for as much as a year.

Authorities investigating the case say the body, found May 23rd, was already skeletonized. A Marine had discovered the man in an area used by both Okinawans and the military. Ishikawa Police have now acknowledged a wallet was found on the manís body, but no name has been released. The man was wearing a beige jacket, a long sleeve shirt and long pants.

No injuries have been listed, but earlier police in Uruma City said a rope found near the body and a tree lead to an earlier possibility of suicide. Police now say the man was 40-60 years old.

An investigation is continuing.
