Two dead dolphins were discovered floating in the ocean off Ishigaki Harbor. According to Ishigaki Coast Guard the dolphins did not have any external injuries, and the cause of their death is unclear. Dolphins coming to Ishigaki harbor are hardly uncommon. Earlier on May 19, a dolphin had entered Ishigaki Harbor, but it found its way back to the ocean a day later. Four weeks ago a pilot whale entered the harbor, and after laboring some five hours people managed to steer the whale back to open sea. Coast Guard officials say that they received several phone calls reporting the dolphins, and when they went to investigate they found them dead. The carcasses were buried in a nearby landfill.
