Rolling poker nets big bucks for Kadena Special Olympics

Date Posted: 2005-04-28

Poker played with a twist was positive for the Kadena Special Olympics program last weekend.

The First Chance Motorcycle Club on Okinawa made its 5th Annual Special Olympics Poker Run, scoring $2,000 for the Special Olympics Coffers. The poker run is a biker event where bikers sign up to ride the Special Olympics route, stopping five times to play poker, committing $5 each time. With the hand obtained from the stops, winners are determined for best and worst poker hands.

This year’s route began at First Chance on Gate2 Street, then on to Hamahiga Jima, then Ginoza, then Inbu Beach. The poker run ended at the Elephant Cage in Yomitan, where the bikers counted their winners, and the take.

Between the Poker Run and donations, the total raised was $2,000.
