American juveniles arrested for robbing taxi

Three American boys were arrested on suspicion of robbing a taxi driver, Thursday, in Kise, Nago City.

According to Nago Police one of the boys is a 18-year-old from Kadena Air Base, ther two others are 18 and 16-year-old from Camp Foster. Their names were not released as they are minors according to the Japanese law.

The police say that the three had been in Gushikawa City when they decided to take the expressway from Okinawa North to Kadena but somehow took a wrong turn and ended in Nago. By that time they run out of gas, and as they did not have money to buy some they decided to rob a taxi.

After hailing a cab, the 18-year-olds began to beat up the driver while the 16-year-old grabbed the diverís money box that contained \3,000 in cash. They then ran away.

Nago City Police then launched a search for the three aided by the Military Police, and soon after apprehended the three. They remain in the custody of Nago Police while the investigation continues.
