Unknown foreigner stabs American woman outside MCAS

Date Posted: 2005-04-23

Military and Ginowan City Police are trying to determine who stabbed and American woman outside MCAS Futenma while she was walking uphill towards the gate Saturday evening.

According to Ginowan Police an American woman had appeared at a nearby snack bar holding her side and begging for help. Workers of the bar alerted the Military Police and also the local Ginowan Police. The woman was taken to the Navy Hospital on Camp Lester.

The woman told the police that an African American man had approached her when he was walking towards the base gate and suddenly stabbed her on the side twice. She also suffered a stab wound on her left arm.

The woman could not provide investigators a specific description of her assailant except his race and the fact that he was wearing a yellow T-shirt. Police also suspect that the man injured himself during the attack as the woman fought to ward him off. Ginowan Police is now checking local clinics to see if someone has sought treatment for a knife wound.

The knife has not been found and the police investigation continues.
