‘Laugh Congress’ convenes local Okinawa conferenceDate Posted: 2005-03-25 The Uchinaaa Tee Faa Laugh Congress, the local Okinawa branch of Japan’s Laugh Congress, used the forum in front of 900 people to get a laugh and enjoy a few moments of relaxation. The Congress’ officials say laughter is vital in today’s society, and urges laughter in the medical, education and business communities. “Let’s build a healthy body and spirit,” said Congress President Tatsuya Kina. “More than 30 doctors, professors and pharmacists have made this a success.” The doctors dressed as angels, and even as famous movie stars, while they explained how health and laughter are essential to a good life. Ema Maeda, Vice President of the Manabu Kudaka medical group, said “If you laugh, your blood will become alkaline and you will feel good. Even in death, the group’s leaders say, past laughter is important both for victims and survivors. “When a husband dies, he remembers his wife’s face and voice. But when a wife dies, she has forgotten her husband’s face and voice immediately,” she said. On the other hand, Maeda cited research in the case of gymnasts who laugh many times a day. “If you don’t laugh, happiness will escape.” |
