Ginowan insists hotel plans continue despite a scandal

Date Posted: 2005-03-18

A plan to bring the Tokyo Prince Hotel to Ginowan City’s new west coast development project are on hold, while charges of illegal stock sales continue.

Seibu Group, which was working with the city to bring the large hotel to the area near the Convention Center, is in limbo while the financial group regroups. Seibu Group is charged with engaging in dirty tricks by illegal stock sales. The Tokyo Prince Hotel is owned by Seibu Group.

Seibu President, says “I want every assembly member to understand we’re still working to get the Prince Hotel to Ginowan. Our time limit to again begin is late April.” If that’s not possible, he says, “we’ll have to change our project.”

Negotiations have stopped now, but Ginowan Mayor Youichi Iha says “there is still the possibility we can bring the Tokyo Prince Hotel in.”
