American charged with rape denies all charges

Date Posted: 2004-11-12

A former U.S. Marine charged in connection with two separate rapes on Okinawa is vehemently denying the charges.

Dag Thompson, 34, is in jail charged with the rape of a Chatan woman in August. He allegedly entered her home through an unlocked door after midnite, then raped her. The woman made identification from having seen her attacker in a reflection from her cell phone screen.

The car salesman for Army Air Force Exchange Service at Kadena was rearrested last week and charged in another rape. He’s accused of raping a Naha City woman in June 1998, stealing a wallet then performing the sex act.

Police say they’re confident they have the right man, despite his denials. Police say they’ve information Thompson was bragging and talking about what he did, prior to his arrest.

Thompson served on Okinawa in the Marine Corps, then became a civilian, returned to the U.S., and then came back to Okinawa in the mid-1990’s. He lives in Naha.
