Unity Walk scheduled; participants sought

Date Posted: 2004-10-01

The weather’s cooler in October, and walk organizers say the event is worth the time.
Okinawa Pilot Club International, a women’s charity organization, is inviting international participants to its 9th Annual Nationwide Unity Walk.

All 50 pilot clubs Japan-wide are organizing similar walks in their respective hometowns.

The Okinawa walk starts from Makishi Park at Kokusai Street in Naha City near Seibu Orion Hotel and proceeds along Kokusai Street to Palette Kumoji. The event takes place on Oct. 10 from noon. That is also the day of Naha Festival so participants can enjoy two events on the same trip.

Parking in the area is very limited, and participants are advised to use public transportation to get to the event. Pay parking is available at many places around Kokusai Street at about ¥300 per hour, payable in yen only. Please note that parking is NOT available at Naha Military Port..
As with many Pilot Club International activities, the walk is intended to raise funds to their volunteer work for cure and research for brain disorders. The Pilot International has an official NPO status in Japan. The Pilot International is headquartered in Macon, Georgia.
