Japan Telecom sets Web site for on-base military customers

Date Posted: 2004-07-16

Japan Telecom, one of Japan’s leading telecommunications companies, is now providing a Web site service for on-base military customers.

Japan Telecom, which offers high-quality international telephone service at a low price, with its best quality service at only 4.6 cents (6 yen) per minute to the States, has launched an English Web site to assist its English-speaking customers.

The English pages of the Web site are filled with helpful information for on-base military customers. Not only services are fully explained, but current event information to help enjoy a stay on Okinawa is also provided.

International rates are listed along with country names in alphabetical order. The rates start as low as 4.6 cents per minute to the States per six-second billing – a 24/7 flat rate! (These rates are applicable only to Marine Corps Bases, Kadena Air Base and White Beach residents.) Other rates include 7.6 cents (10 yen) to South Korea and 11.5 cents (15 yen) to the Philippines, by just dialing 0041 before the country code (99+0041 for on-base customers). The rates listed for domestic service are applicable only to Kadena Air Base residents.

Most importantly, there is a full page that explains billing information. No more confusion about the monthly bill! In addition, customers can check the balance on their account and monthly usage by contacting Japan Telecom, even if the bill has not yet been issued.

The campaign page also has helpful bulletins with which you can save money by making full use of their services. Japan Telecom now offers you “The more you use, the more you get” campaign, in which you can receive a JUSCO gift certificate worth up to 3,000 yen, depending on usage.

For customers’ convenience, bills can be paid at local convenience stores, such as Family Mart, Lawson and Hot Spar or at Japanese Post Offices and Japanese banks. The FAQ page offers location maps of payment facilities in the vicinity of the major bases for busy people who don’t have time to go to the base telephone office to make a payment. This payment method is available to MCB and White Beach residents, but residents of Kadena Air Base can use an even more convenient method of automatic salary deduction. Civilians who live on Kadena Air Base, have their phone bill is listed along with their base telephone bill.
