Remember safety when riding bicycle

Date Posted: 2004-07-10

Riding bikes is a great way for children to enjoy the outdoors and a convenient way for them to travel to and from their summer activities. The Okinawa District Student Transportation Offices would like to remind all students to follow a few simple rules to avoid getting hurt when riding a bike this summer.

Always ride inside the bike path when provided.

Ride with the traffic, not against.

At all times properly wear your helmet. The helmet should rest just above your eyebrows, be snug and the straps need to be buckled.

Stay away from traffic, sand, and glass.

Ride where it is flat and smooth.

Inspect your bike to ensure it is working properly.

Kids, have an adult check the brakes and other parts of your bike to ensure that it is safe to ride.

For further information call either the DoDDS-Pacific Camp Foster Student Transportation Office at 645-7820/2036 or the Kadena Student Transportation Office at 632-9034/9035
