Would-be rapist busted while casing a new victim’s home

Date Posted: 2004-07-10

Only weeks before escaping charges on a 1997 attempted rape, a careless criminal is now in police custody.

Yamashiro Jun, 33, was only two weeks away from the statute of limitations on a1997 rape attempt he made on a local woman. He’d entered the woman’s apartment through an unlocked window.

The woman put up a heavy fight and Jun escaped. Police found fingerprints at the scene, but couldn’t identify the culprit seven years ago.

July 2nd, Jun was at it again, preparing to enter a woman’s apartment living room. He was spotted by a neighbor, who called police. Jun was arrested and fingerprinted.

The earlier rape attempt popped up and police said “that was you seven years ago. You tried to rape another lady, didn’t you?”

Jun pretended innocence to police, saying “what’s that? I don’t know anything about seven years ago thing. I forget.” Police arrested him, reminding him the fingerprints didn’t lie.
