Marine held on suspicion of assault

Date Posted: 2002-05-03

A 21-year-old U.S. Marine was arrested Tuesday in Kin Town, on suspicion of assaulting a bar employee. He was also found to have a knife in his pocket after he was arrested. However, police said that he did not pull out the knife during the brawl. The bar employee had told Clark to leave after he had asked him to pay his tab of $36. He only had $6 and demanded change, arguing that the bar was trying to overcharge him. The male employee forced Clark out of the bar, and the altercation occurred outside on the street. Cpl. Michael Clark is suspected of punching the 25-year-old employee in the face at around 12:15 a.m. after he had been ordered to leave the restaurant, police said, adding he was carrying a sharp 7-cm blade. Police say that Clark has admitted to the offense.
