OIWC gives donations to local organizationsDate Posted: 2004-06-17 ![]() The Okinawa International Women's Club made the presentations during Its final luncheon of the year two weeks ago. Recognizing services provided by non-profit and civic organizations, the OIWC provided funds to continue their works. The OIWC Is committeed to fostering a better understanding between local Okinawans and foreigners. When the group first began over 50 years ago, it was only open to wives of high-ranking officers and government officials, but now women of any nationality and background are welcome to join as long as they share a common desire for cultural exchange. The club organizes many activities throughout the year, except during summer break. Those interested in joining can become part of a culture group with approximately a dozen members who regularly receive each other into their homes for cultural exchange and friendship. For more information on OIWC events or for membership particulars, call Gale Rodgers at 932-7232 or June Nicholson at 937-3921. Interested readers are invited to attend OIWC's coffee meeting at Butler O'Club at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 16. Outgoing president Stacy J. Kluckman presents donations to such organizations as the Special Olympics. |
