Elderly driver dies in car crashDate Posted: 2002-05-03 According to Naha Police, the man tried to turn right onto Highway 329 when he collided with a car that was coming straight across the intersection. After the collision, his car with its engine still running turned back and plunged into Kokuba River some 70 meters back towards Tomishiro. The driver and his wife were taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. His wife suffered a broken backbone and other injuries. Investigators concluded that the driver was killed instantly when the two cars collided, and the car continued as his foot jammed the gas pedal. The 28-year old driver of the other car was not injured. |
