Drunk firefighter crashes into bus, no one injuredDate Posted: 2002-05-03 According to Miyako Police, the 43-year old fireman had attended his friend’s wedding party earlier and consumed considerable quantities of alcoholic drinks. He then attempted to dive home although by eyewitness accounts he was barely able to walk. Local police say that they have tried to fight against local custom of starting parties from the morning and then driving home for years, but to little avail. Being in a remote rural area, locals tend to ignore most of traffic rules, police claim. Police say that the situation is especially bad during long national holidays, such as the New Year and Golden Week. |
