New air cargo company to offer specialized services

Date Posted: 2004-06-10

A new air cargo operation is gearing up to accommodate emergencies and illnesses, transporting them to regional hospitals via helicopter.

Air Dolphin, capitalized to the tune of 49,000,000, is majority owned by Data Communication Service business Cyberfarm, Co., headed by President Sadajiro Handa. He owns 85% of the Okinawa Tourist Service (OTS) created stock in the new air cargo business.

Cyberfarm is targeting not only Japan, but the entire Far East Asia market. It proposes to transport ill and injured emergency cases from outlying islands, and to work with Japan Air Lines School.

The plan is to buy large helicopters and 50-seat aircraft capable of reaching China. The goal is to make Okinawa a hub terminal for the air cargo business. Okinawa Tourist Service maintains 15% interest in the new company, to serve its charter interests.

The Okinawa Pilot Project will involve marketing programs to combine the cargo and passenger interests, including charter flights from Naha to Okinoerabu and Izena.
