Another shoppers paradise is now open. Aeon Group opened the doors of its new Haebaru Shopping Center last weekend, calling the new shopping location a greatly needed facility for the southeast part of the island. The core store is Jusco, the fifth to open on Okinawa.

There are 70 shops and restaurants in the new two-story shopping complex, including “Yuimal Street” featuring 50’s and 60’s style Okinawa street scenes and old style Okinawan restaurants.

The grocery store is the largest on Okinawa, with 3,715 square meters space. Another feature is a ‘Kids Republic’ stores area dedicated foods the youngsters will enjoy.

Opening sales are expected to total more than ¥1,340,000,000. At the opening ceremony, officials brought out the traditional Okinawa dance, while Aeon Group president Yamazaki and Haebaru Mayor Shiroma presided.

Mayor Shiroma called the new shopping center a plus for his community. “now we have cinemas and a sports center and entertainment places, so this makes the future of Haebaru very bright.”
