Kin Town incident leads to American GI arrest

Date Posted: 2004-04-15

An early morning incident Sunday at a Kin Town dance club ended in violence when an American serviceman punched a woman in the face.

Twenty-two year-old Timothy Gibbs, a Marine Corps Corporal, was charged with assault by Ishikawa City Police after he followed a woman into a ladies rest room, and argued, then struck her in the face. Gibbs is denying the charges.

Another woman was in the rest room, and witnessed the incident. Gibbs fled the scene, but was captured shortly after the 3am fight.

Gibbs reportedly entered the rest room with his female friend, and told the other woman to leave, saying “hey girl, can you get out of year, you’re disturbing us.”

The woman told police she responded “No, I don’t go away. This is the woman’s toilet. You are the one to go away.” At that point, she told police, he got upset and beat her, punching her two times and causing her to fall to the floor.

Police were patrolling nearby and accepted her complaint. Gibbs was still in the ladies rest room when police arrested him.
