Okinawa based Marines die in series of Iraq firefights

Four U.S. Marines from the 5th Marine Regiment stationed at Camp Hansen died in Iraq combat during the week of April 8th, while another three died two days later..

The men were killed in three separate firefights in Fallujah, near Baghdad. The 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, was on mission to bring the city under control following the deaths of four Americans.

They were identified as Corporal Jessie Sertie, 23, Lance Corporal Shane Goldman, 19, Lance Corporal Matthew Serio, 21, and Private First Class Christopher Ramos, 26.

Two days later, Saturday, Lieutenant Joshua Barmer, 25, and two others were killed in the same area during combat with Sunni Muslim radicals. Names of the others are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
