The traditional Japanís Ladies Professional Golf Association tour season opener is just around the corner. Signs of Spring are showing at the Ryukyu Golf Club in Tamagusuku, where top lady golfers tee off on Mar. 5. The tournament has been the season opener since its inauguration in 1988.

The three-day tournament is preceded with a three-day amateur tournament. The professional tournament runs from Friday through Sunday.
Daikin Industries Corp. is the tournamentís lead sponsor, and offers a total purse of Y60 million of which the winner pockets Y10.8 million. The 50th place still pays Y240,000.

Tickets covering all three days cost Y3,900 in advance. The first two days of the tournament are Y2,000 on the day of the event. Tickets for the final day are Y3,000. To get to the Ryukyu Golf Club, drive south on Hwy 329 to Yonabaru. Turn left on Rt. 331 towards Sashiki and then right on 137 to Tamagusuku. There turn right on Rt. 5 and the golf club is on the left.
