Date Posted: 2004-02-12

Valentine's Day will be here before you know it. If you're looking for something that will impress, the Hanagasa restaurant at the Okinawa Miyako Hotel would be a good choice for that really special evening.

Hanagasa is offering a one-night-only Valentine's Day dinner that you can enjoy on the hill in Shuri taking in a spectacular ocean sunset. Located on the 15th floor, Hanagasa overlooks Naha City and has a view that extends all the way to the Kerama Islands. The restaurant rotates full circle in one-and-a-half hours.

A first-class chef will prepare this special meal only on Saturday, Feb. 14. Hanagasa’s aim is to offer delicious food coupled with a romantic atmosphere at a reasonable price. The fare includes a cacao-flavored pumpkin soup topped with whipped cream, baked white fish coated with bread crumbs and herbs and topped with tomato sauce, sauteed duck breast with a chocolate-flavored balsamic sauce, salad, bread and butter, dessert and coffee or tea, all for ¥10,000 per couple (including tax and service charge). Hanagasa is open 5 p.m.-12 a.m. (last order at 9:30 p.m.) on Valentine's Day.

The Okinawa Miyako Hotel provides all the services of a luxury hotel including 24-hour money exchange and is located near Shuri Castle, a registered UNESCO world heritage site.

The hotel is easy to find. Head towards Naha City on Route 58. After passing Shintoshin (new city center) on your left, turn left at Tomari intersection. Proceed towards Shuri Castle, passing the entrance to Kokusai Street and the Asato intersection. Go up the hill; the Okinawa Miyako Hotel is located on your right. From Route 330, head towards Naha City. After passing Shintoshin, this time located on your right, turn left at the Asato intersection in the direction of Shuri Castle. The hotel will be on your right. Hanagasa is on the 15th floor.
