Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Express New Year Wishes

Date Posted: 1999-12-31

The beautiful ladies from Texas spent only a couple of hours on Okinawan soil. But they left a lot of US Marines and soldiers with warm hearts as they took off for Korea to continue performing their holiday cheers. Whether it was on Futenma, Camp Kinser, Torii Station, Camp Shield or Camp Schab, the famous cheerleaders of one of America's greatest football teams of all times offered smiles and sweet words of encouragement to their military heroes. They were readily available for photographs and autographs. They did everything with style, and left everyone who interacted with them feeling special. Thanks to the USO and the Single Marine Program, many US Servicemen in Okinawa had the opportunity to spend moments of merriment with some of America's most admired female entertainers.

The marines at Camp Schwab were all particularly cheerful at the end of a one and a half hour show that the Dallas ladies offered them in the evening of that Wednesday, December 22nd. The cheerleaders' colorful - and at times utterly suggestive costumes - coupled with exciting moves and twists of their athletic bodies, in response to a variety of familiar American tunes, created a really electric atmosphere on that Marine facility.

At the end of the Camp Schwab show, some of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders were so pleased with their encounter with America's heroes that they readily accepted to send out individual wishes to everyone, through the Japan Update medium. The words below are exclusive, and they are the Texan ladies' way of saying: "Happy New Year 2000!"

Terra Watson:

"We love visiting the overseas troops for Christmas. The USO provides us the opportunity to bring a little of home to Okinawa!"

Pennie Booker:

"I hope everyone has a great Holiday season and a safe and prosperous New year!"

Shaina McElroy:

"All my love to the men and women who serve our country. They say the Cowboys are America's team. But the Military, truly, is America's team!"

Carolyn Clifton:

"I am so honored to have had the privilege of meeting all these people serving our country - they are really my heroes!"

Sara Fulghum:

"I am so happy to be spending the holidays with those who serve our country. This is a very special opportunity, and I will cherish it always."

Amber Strauser:

"Thank you so very much for your dedication and time towards serving our country. If it was not for all of you, we the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders would not be able to visit everyone in Okinawa for the Holidays. Thans to all of our heroes!"
