Crane Truck Accident Provokes Power Failure

An accident involving a crane-carrying truck at the monorail construction site in Kyouhara, Naha City, brought extensive power failure nn December 20th, at about 2:00pm.

According to an investigation by Tomishiro Police, a loss of control by the conductor of the truck caused the accident. While the crane-carrying truck operator was moving, he tried to revolve the truck to the right side, while he mainteined the crane part of the truck at a 75 degree angle. During the movement, the crane kept going up towards the right angle, a difficult situation to manouever which brought the truck down on the street next to the construction site. Luckily, there was no one nearby enough to sustain injury caused by this accident. However, electric power around the Kyouhara area in Naha City was cut off for a long while as a consequence of the accident. This happened because the falling truck destroyed some electric cables in the street. The power outage affected some around 150 homes around the area.
