Okinawa Police Holds One-Day Traffic Control

Okinawa Prefectural Police recently released the results of a one-day traffic control campaign that was conducted from Thursday, December 9th, at 10:00 p.m. through the 10th at 3:00 a.m. For that campaign, they set 37 regulation points along the main roads of the Island and the entrance of expressways. 318 police officers were dispatched into the streets that night to participate in the endeavor.

431 people were caught violating traffic regulations during that campaign, two of them leading to arrests. The details of the violations were: 1 for drunk driving (the driver was arrested); 116 for driving under influence of alcohol (1 person was placed under arrest because of causing damage to property); 9 for unlicensed driving; 129 for speeding; and 176 for other violations. Other than these cases, one person was arrested on the charge of inhaling thinner in Yonabaru.
